Freshmen Mentors

Here at Granby Junior Senior High School we recognize the difficulty of transitioning into the high school enviornment. One proactive step toward addressing this with our freshmen students is through TNT (Teens & Teachers). TNT is a series of meetings that take place weekly between a small group of freshmen students and a high school faculty member. In addition to meeting with faculty the freshmen students are assigned a junior/senior mentor.

What is a Mentor?  A mentor is a person who befriends a younger person (a “mentee”) and who helps him/her become familiar with the high school.   Mentors spend time building a relationship with their mentees and they offer guidance and support.  A high school mentor might help a freshman by sharing ways that he or she adjusted to a block schedule; or by giving advice about a particular class.  He or she will occasionally have lunch with the freshman, say “hi” in the hallway or introduce his or her friends.

Interested in becoming a mentor? If so, please feel free to speak me in addition to viewing the links below. :-)
